Plumb Mate’s Annual Charity Golf Day
This year was particularly significant as it marked the 10th anniversary of the event – always a popular competition for our staff and customers, even the weather played ball!
The day itself was a great success – teeing off early with bacon rolls and coffee, before 52 golfers took on 18 sun-drenched fairways and greens in the pursuit of a winning score. There were a lot of winners on the day, but as dinner was served, Plumb Mate’s golfing champions for 2016 were crowned…
With a magnificent total score of 37 points, the winning customer was <drum roll> Mark Greaves; and hot on his heels, but narrowly missing out on the top spot, with a very creditable 36 points, our highest-scoring member of staff was Tony Barker. Well done, guys, the European Tour beckons!
A huge amount of planning goes in to organising the occasion (to ensure it lives up to expectation), and a big thank-you goes to everyone at Ufford Park for all their help and generosity.
Of course, the day would not have been possible without the support and goodwill of everyone who took part and made a donation to the Woolverstone Wish Foundation. We were overwhelmed by the total amount raised for this very worthwhile cause – an impressive £3,535.
The Woolverstone Wish Foundation was established in 2009 to raise money for the refurbishment of the chemotherapy outpatient clinic and day unit on the Woolverstone Wing at the Ipswich Hospital. In 2014, the Woolverstone Wish Foundation joined forces with Macmillan Cancer Support to better assist the 4,000 people in Suffolk who are told they have cancer each year.
The funds we’ve raised will help the foundation build the Woolverstone Macmillan Cancer Centre, ensuring people living with cancer don’t have to go through it alone.
We’re looking forward to hosting the annual Plumb Mate charity golf day again next year, and will once again pull out all the stops to make it bigger and better than ever before. We’ll hopefully see you there!
